Typography that moves

Kinetic type is having a moment. Here's how to use it without turning your site into a circus.

Abstract poster on blue

Letters were never meant to sit still — they just had to, for five hundred years of print. The screen lifts that limitation.

Three rules

  • Reveal, don’t decorate. Motion should help reading, not fight it.
  • Mask your lines. A clipped baseline reveal feels expensive because it is precise.
  • Respect the reader. Always honour prefers-reduced-motion.

Where it shines

Headlines, section transitions, the first impression. Use kinetic type where it sets tone — then let the words do the work.
